The Indian embassy’s monthly community house was informed that a total of 85 Indian expatriates have died so far in Qatar this year.
According to data, 191 Indians are in the Central Prison and 116, awaiting to be deported, are housed at the Criminal Evidence and Investigation Department's Deportation Centre.
Meanwhile, 31 emergency certificates were issued by the embassy this month to Indian nationals for their repatriation. 12 air tickets were also provided to Indians in distress for their return to their home country.
It may be noted that the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), which has a great role in initiating welfare measures for the Indian community, recently helped in getting health cards for 200 Indian fishermen. (Qatar Day)
The forum also arranged groceries to eight Indian nationals in distress.
Meanwhile, Ambassador P Kumaran, deputy chief of mission R K Singh and other embassy officials met all the complainants, discussed their problems in detail and assured them that the embassy would follow up their cases with the concerned authorities in the government of Qatar.
